February
Was a Month of Many Visitors
On February 2nd ...
Our school was visited by Mr. Ramana Baba and his
spiritual group from England: Ms. Glenny Latham, Ms. Boldey
Black, Ms. Vivienne Cringhton, Ms. Lucy Forsyth, Mr. Nick Holsworth,
Ms. Suzt Castleman, Ms. Christine Hurst, Ms. Bobel Milner and Ms.
Maggie Hall. We gave
a warm welcome to them at the new school site at 10:30 a.m. They
toured the site. One of the visitors inquired, if the total
fund was available, how much time would be needed to finish the
building project? Mr. Karunanithi replied that at least
6 months would be required. Together, we chanted the Gayatri
Mantra 108 times.
We returned to the school and visited the classrooms.
Our guests were impressed with the scholastic brilliance of the
rural children, who also performed a cultural programme.
On February 6th ...
At 10:00 a.m., fifteen of our High School
students went to Sri Ramanasram to water plants on the way to
Skandashram. After worshipping Bhagavan, they watered till 2.00 p.m.
The Ashram provided lemon rice for lunch. The children gained good
experience with nature from this activity.
On February 10th ...
From Scotland came Ms. Karina Stewart and
her yoga students: Ms. Susan Begg, Ms. Andrea Frasel, Ms. Margaret
Percival, Ms. Gemma Emslie, Ms. Julia Ann Arnott, Ms. Vivian Wraae,
Ms. Morag McBain, Ms. Susan Gilvear and Ms. Fiona McGregor. This
year, through 108 repetitions of the
Sun Salutation exercise (Surya Namaskara) with her group, Ms. Karina
raised 4,450 Pounds that will go toward constructing our new school
building and student sponsorships. We all thanked them on this special
occasion.
The group was very happy
to see the Lord Ganesha temple work in progress at the new school
site. We all chanted the Gayatri Mantra 108 times to complete
the school building work as early as possible.
Mr. Mike Horsey from USA joined with Ms. Karina's group to visit
our school. They toured
the classrooms and were excited at seeing the talent of the
students. They conversed with sponsored students; offered sponsorships
to some who did not yet have funding; and committed to raising
more funds towards our school. The children performed dances for
them, and, at 3:00 p.m., prizes were awarded by Mr. Ramana Baba and
Ms. Karina and her group to the dancers and the teachers who choreographed
the performance.
On Feruary 11th ...
Our Trust arranged
a Get Together Event to entertain our friends from Scotland. The
event was held at the Hotel Arunai Anandha at 5:30 p.m. Ms. Karina
and her group perfomed yoga for a happy life, including some very
difficult postures. At 6:30 p.m., Kalaimamani Mr.
Madavapeddy Murthy and his group from Chennai performed Indian Classical
(kuchupudi) dance to our friends. Our friends enjoyed the performance
very much. Dinner followed the performance.
