Planting Field Trip
On December 1, students from the 7th through 9th standards went on a field
trip to revisit the trees, which they had planted exactly one year earlier.
The trip was lead by Correspondent Karunanithi along with the school principal
and several teachers. Also attending the event were school sponsors Leela
Kalffors from Sweden and Ryan Shaw from the USA. Many of the 250 seedlings,
which were barely one foot tall when planted, had grown to over four feet
and were bearing fruit. The villagers were happy to see the students again
and the students were able to see the fruits of their labors. “It was
a successful project,” said Leela. “The villagers now have a
another marketable product and the students have acquired new skills.”
