Independence Day Celebration
On August 15, the 60th Independence Day was celebrated at the Sri Ramana Matriculation School campus. The school’s Chief Correspondent M. Karunanithi, teachers and students welcomed Mr. Eizho Tabuchi from Japan, who graced the function as the primary guest along with Mr. Takho from Japan. Mr. Tabuchi visits the school every year and teaches origami and yoga to the students.
The event began at 8:00 am with a prayer, followed by Tamil Thaivazhthu. After the national flag was hoisted and saluted, Vandhe Matharam was sung and the pledge and passages from Thirukkural were recited. School Educational Advisor Mrs., Sudha welcomed the attendees and the Chief Correspondent gave the Independence Day speech in which he stressed the need for unity.
To the surprise of all, the highest mark scorer in 10th Public Examination (2006-07) was Master M. Vignesh, who stays in the free hostel. He was awarded a prize from the chief guest Mr. Eizho Tabuchi. The teachers Mr. K. Arunachalam and Miss G. Laksmi also received prizes for their wonderful dance performances given to the students.
Mr. Tabuchi and Mr. Takho gave a well-received speech in which they expressed their love for India and its people. Mr. Tabuchi, who collected funds in Japan for the new school, said that he was looking forward to having the new school built very soon. The teachers and students thanked him and prayed for his long and peaceful life.
L. K. G Tiny Tots to IX Standard students gave an unforgettable cultural program that everyone enjoyed. The program ended with vote of thanks given by the science teacher, Mr. Samsudhin. To end the event, “lattu” (sweets) were distributed to all of the attendees.
