Children’s
Day Celebrated at the School
Children’s
Day is celebrated internationally on November 20. But in India, it
is celebrated on November 14, because that is the birthday of India’s
first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who had a special love for
children. He believed that “children are the nation’s
wealth.”
At our school, the event was celebrated with much
happiness and activities including many competitions. Lower elementary
students participated in a Candy Pick-Up contest (the student who
picked up the most candy in a short time was the winner). Upper elementary
students participated in a Water Bottle Filling contest (the student
who filled the most bottles was the winner).
First-standard students
participated in a Balloon Blowing contest. Second-standard students
enjoyed a Joining the Clips contest. Third-standard students competed
in a singing contest. Fourth-standard students tested their skills
in a Needle and Thread contest. Fifth-standard girl students pasted
Sticker Dots and the boys competed in a 3-minute Balloon Blowing
contest.
There was an elocution competition about Nehruji for
sixth- through eight-standard students. Ninth- and tenth-standard
students participated in a debate concerning “Who has the greater
responsibility in a students’ development—parents
or teachers. All of the winners received prizes.
After the activities,
some of the students visited the new school site to water the plants
and make watering trenches around them.
The students and teachers
thank you for your continued support and generosity for their education
and construction of their new school.
