Students Celebrate Three Occasions
Recently, the school celebrated a triple event—Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. Kamaraji’s birthday, the school correspondent’s birthday and the annual Educational Development Day. Educational Development Day was instituted in behalf of Mr. Kamaraj, who was instrumental in developing educational opportunities for the children of Tamil Nadu. In the morning of the event, students watched a film show. The function began at 2:30 p.m. with the distribution of sweets (Lattu) by the school correspondent to the children. During the celebration Primary Teacher Mr. Sundaravthanam read a poem comparing Mr. Kamaraj and the school correspondent, saying that both men provided free education, free uniforms and mid day meals. He said, “Though we lost Karmaveerar Kamaraj, we still have Karmaveerar Karunanithi living with us.” R. Natarajan, retired Government School Head Master and devotee of Ramana Maharishi, presided over the function. He praised the school correspondent and spoke about Kamarajar, whose noble deeds were expounded to the children. Afterwards, the student singing and elocution competitions took place.
